2015 good year for gdf
Though 2015 has been dubbed a good year for the Guyana Defence force, army chief of staff Mark Phillips says the GDF remains hopeful that during 2016-2020 period, the military’s aspirations for even better days and equipment will be realized. Mondale Smith reports.

Right Sam! Given the controversy over border disputes for the past fifty years, I thought Guyana leaders should have push to develop a mechanized arm forces. Guyana has the resources to develop several strong air, sea and ground mechanize infantry battalion. This type of military posture should have started four decades ago. Trying to hoard resources(gold) and not procuring military assets to defend your sovereignty, it's a fool play. I would argue they need a separate military expenditure in the yearly Budget.
We have to rebuild the GDF, it is outdated. The army cannot work with men and AK 47s alone.
