Is Guyana Safe? 🇬🇾

Sharing is caring!

Thinking of visiting Guyana 🇬🇾? Safety, like anywhere, depends on staying aware, showing respect, and moving smart. But when you’re here — the culture, the food, the people — it’s unforgettable. Guyana will forever be my home away from home.

  1. Crime happens in every country go and enjoy not show off how much you have go fir family friends and of course the food don’t act like a king or queen be humble ,we in Canada and US enjoy our lives so let Guyanese living their enjoy there’s were only visiting not putting people down stay safe in any travelling to any county

  2. From 1994 to 2019 I visited Guyana 8 times. I have visited 18 countries never took my jewelry off, in Guyana YES TAKE IT OFF. Of course if you have lots of $$ you will have a great time. I visited Shanklands Rainforest Resort, Baganara Island Resort, Pomeroon..etc.. for the most part had a grand time. My friend stayed in a nice Airbnb recently, she & a friend was robbed. Randomly going into a taxi you will be over charged. None Guyanese be very very careful at all times. Every body experiences are different.

  3. Check out Albouystown when you get to Guyana. J/K. What he says its true. Don't flash money and wear anything fancy. Always know your surroundings. Be with a group and don't go solo. Try the peanut punch!

  4. If you are guyanese, how come you are now exploring these places. I do not know if you grew up in guyana but if you did, look like you was not allowed to go any where.so if you grew up overseas and you visit, did you take time to go visit beautiful guyana.

  5. Guyanese people are very “confrontation”. That is one of things that you should try to avoid when in Guyana. Guyanese people fight over every little thing or silly petty things. Just look at crime statistics in Guyana and you will see the amount of violence committed over petty stuff. Most of violent stems from this “confrontation” behavior in the Guyanese culture.

  6. Road accidents or vehicle crashes are one of the main thing that Guyanese on vacation in Guyana are afraid of. Speeding cars and reckless driving. No road courtesy. Guyanese drivers drive, anyhow, and park, anyhow. They love speeding to get nowhere, all the time.

  7. you opened with a question….but never gave a definitive answer. In my opinion, guyana is very unsafe. Last year I was there. Stayed at reputable city hotel. On my departure, receptionist offered to call a taxi. I let her. Turn out she called one of her ganja smokin friends. Cut out shorts, sandals, private car and the smell of weed. The ride to airport was a disaster as half ay there the man demanded an increase in fare. Big cuss down at the terminal as he thought he can bully me.
