I Spent a Night With Indigenous People Deep in the Guyana Amazon
I spent a night deep in the Guyana Amazon, staying with an Indigenous community in the remote village of Marakobai.
There are no roads here, the community can only be reached by river. After arriving in the previous episode, I wanted to stay longer and experience what everyday life is really like.
I spent time with local families, talked with people in the community, met an incredible grandmother, saw how people live in their homes, watched local food being prepared and cooked, shared conversations, and even washed dishes in the river.
There is no internet here, and life moves at a completely different pace from what I’m used to.
I also spent the night in the community guesthouse, giving me the chance to experience Marakobai after the day was over and see a little more of what life is like in this incredibly remote part of Guyana.
This is not a tourist resort or a staged experience. It’s a glimpse into real everyday life in a remote Indigenous community in the Guyana Amazon.
