Surama Eco-lodge in Guyana
Surama eco-lodge is a community based eco tourism business in rural Guyana. The surrounding community of Amerindian Makushi people own and manage this business. In order to bring their eco lodge to the next level, they requested for assistance from CESO to improve their food and hospitality services to guests. CESO sent volunteer advisor Ralph Graham, an executive chef who has cooked for renowed individuals, such as the queen of England, to Surama eco lodge, where he taught skills related to food preparation, sanitation and hospitality to employees.
CESO acknowledges financial support from the Canadian International Development Agency.

Began visiting Surama in 1996. Much has changed since then. It is still the best place to visit in all of Guyana.
Very nice 👍🏾
Great country. Such amazing explorations. The Surama Lodge works hard to accommodate their visitors and continues to train their staff in hospitality and tourism related applications. With their limited resources they have done a great job and it would be great to see what could happen with appropriate government financing for interior lodges. The Tourism revenues would clearly rise quickly. Sydney is doing a great job and the fruits of his labor will surely be seen down the road.

Been to Surama, they do a good job… and it is good to see these people doing well for themselves. Sydney Allicock is almost a local celebrity, he has definitely helped the Amerindians a lot in terms of recognition, politically – which is very important.
love this video! salute to guyana's first people! great lodge!
