I Wasn’t Expecting This Side of Guyana 🇬🇾 | Lethem & Amerindian Life

Sharing is caring!

In Part 2 of my journey through Guyana, I slow down and spend time in Lethem, getting a closer look at everyday life, meeting local people, and experiencing a side of Guyana that most visitors never get to see.

After the long journey from Georgetown to Lethem, the adventure continues, but this time, it’s less about the road and more about the people, the culture, the landscape, and life in this remote corner of Guyana.

I spend time with locals, explore the surrounding area, and head deep into the jungle to discover a beautiful waterfall hidden away in the wilderness.

This is Guyana beyond the usual tourist route — remote, wild, welcoming, and full of stories.

🌴 Welcome to Lethem, Guyana.

  1. Why are some Guyanese treating Cuban migrants so badly, and what is the government doing about it. Why are they underpaying them or not paying them at all. They are our brothers and sisters. Would you like your country men and women to be treated that way. Some of the employers are seizing their passports and have them working as slaves.

  2. My brother, I love your content! Despite the challenges of everyday life, the resilience of our people, the warmth and love is what make us Guyanese proud to call Guyana our home. I don't do politics but clearly we can do much better for our people we are a self sufficient nation with less than a million people and the addition or our new found oil wealth we must do better. You are echoing what many visitors says about their experience of Guyana and you my brother have shown the world how authintic we Guyanese are. Much respect to you and keep doing what you are doing!!! One Love ❤ PS… Watch out for them snakes them does bite your bamzie and your seeds when you sleep under trees 😝😁😂

  3. The Amerindians/Indigenous Peoples are beautiful. I’m of African decent but I feel I share there peace of heart. It doesn’t take them much to be happy and this is fabulous. Most Guyanese think it’s stupid but they are really missing out of real happiness versus the greed city life engulfs you into.🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿

  4. He ran up that tree, faster than a monkey (Disclaimer: I’m not insinuating that he’s one). I use to do the same. Climbing trees was like a culture for us in our childhood in Georgetown. I’m 100% certain I can’t do that anymore. Maybe I can, but now my brain would put fear in my heart.🤣

  5. Nice. You’re visiting places in my country that I’ve never dreamed of visiting but somehow love. I’m going everywhere when I return.🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
