‘DEVELOPMENT BANK ABOUT ENSURING ECONOMIC GROWTH, OPPORTUNITIES’ MIN ALLY
Members of the private sector gathered at the Marriott Hotel in Kingston on Thursday as the Guyana Manufacturing and Services Association (GMSA) hosted a business luncheon focused on the government’s planned Guyana Development Bank and the expanding opportunities emerging from Guyana’s rapidly transforming economy. Delivering the feature address was Minister of Public Service, Government Efficiency and Implementation Zulfikar Ally, who outlined the government’s vision for expanding entrepreneurship, improving access to financing, and ensuring ordinary Guyanese are able to participate more meaningfully in national development. The proposed Guyana Development Bank is expected to provide up to G$3 million in zero-interest, low-collateral financing, primarily targeting youths, women-owned businesses, differently-abled persons and small entrepreneurs who often face challenges accessing financing from traditional commercial banks.
