SPORT AND ENTERTAINMENT TOURISM A GROWING CATALYST FOR GUYANA’S ECONOMIC TRANSFORMATION – RODRIGUES
Sport and entertainment tourism sectors are rapidly evolving into primary pillars of Guyana’s economic expansion.
Minister of Tourism, Industry, and Commerce, Susan Rodrigues, has affirmed that these industries are no longer viewed merely as leisure activities but as deliberate mechanisms that drive national growth, public-private investment, and long-term brand identity.
Minister Rodrigues shared these insights on the heels of the official launch of the inaugural Guyana Grand Prix. Scheduled for July 11–12, 2026, the high-stakes event will serve as the third leg of the prestigious GT Challenge de las Américas, bringing elite GT3-spec machinery from iconic global manufacturers straight to the South Dakota Circuit.
An estimated 4,000 to 5,000 visitors are anticipated to flood the circuit over the two-day race weekend, providing an immediate shot in the arm for the local economy.
