Become A National Volunteer Teacher (Guyana)
The Ministry of Education(Guyana) Strategic Plan (2003-2007) has indicated that educational and other services provided to hinterland and remote riverain regions are clearly below national standards. This deficiency is reinforced in the Secondary School Entrance Examination (SSEE) results for 1996 — 2006, which show below average performance in Regions 1, 6, 7, 8 & 9. Even though the other regions are average and above there may be some communities in those regions, which because of geographic location, are below average but they get lost in the averaging of the figures. In the Ministry of Education Strategic Plan 2003 — 2007, the need for trained teachers in the riverain areas is reiterated several times.
