Protesting VAT on Education in Guyana
The Minister of Finance of the Government of Guyana has imposed a Value Added Tax of 14% on tuition fees at private education institutions from nursery to tertiary. The VAT has not been applied to public schools which do not charge tuition, and no VAT has yet been required on tuition at the University of Guyana where tuition increases are being demanded by UG administration. Today we covered the protest on Brickdam outside the offices of the Ministry of Education.

Go to the schools I attended, bottom house Nursery School, Government Primary School, common entrance with a pass to Bishops High School (free). It's not like a really good free alternative is not available!!!!!! I say tax the shit out of private schools at the first three levels.
share non sense these guys talking. the private schools is pay their cooperate taxes. this 14% goes directly to the government not the schools. the GRA and the gov't needs to do it's job by insuring that schools who aren't compliant. we ain't giving no government no 14%.
