GUYANA URGES INCREASED GLOBAL INVESTMENT IN DROUGHT RESILIENCE AT UN SUMMIT
Guyana called on Tuesday for greater international investment in drought preparedness, water security and climate-resilient food systems, warning that drought poses a growing threat to livelihoods, biodiversity and economic stability. In remarks at a thematic session at the 17th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), Minister of Natural Resources Vickram Bharrat said countries must build resilience before drought develops into a crisis.
