One Guyana T10 finals set for Anna Regina: SVC/AJM CC complete the final four

A new national champion will be crowned on Sunday when the One Guyana T10 Tapeball Blast national finals light up the Anna Regina National Stadium on the Essequibo Coast — the first time the finals have been hosted at the newly built venue.

The final four are now set after SVC/AJM CC captured the Georgetown/East Coast Demerara zone title at Enmore on October 4, joining Berbice’s Grillmaster Sip N Play All-Stars, Mahdia’s Movements Family from East Bank/West Demerara, and Essequibo’s Lusignan Bulls DTP II. With defending national champions Titans All Stars knocked out in the Georgetown/East Coast quarter-finals, a new champion is guaranteed.

The semi-finals bowl off at 2:30 PM on Sunday: Grillmaster Sip N Play All-Stars meet Mahdia’s Movements Family, followed at 4:30 PM by Lusignan Bulls DTP II against SVC/AJM CC. A six-over women’s exhibition match, Tapakuma (Elite Warriors) against Capoey United, follows at 6:30 PM before the grand final at 7:30 PM, with TV reviews available for line decisions and Trinidadian international umpire Zahid Bassarath on the officiating panel.

The winners take home G$2 million, the runners-up G$1 million, and each losing semi-finalist G$500,000. The tournament MVP earns G$150,000 plus a motorbike. The top four teams also earn places at the proposed Global T10 Tapeball Blast. Admission is free and there is a well-stocked bar, but no coolers are allowed.

The final four

Grillmaster Sip N Play All-Stars (Berbice). The New Amsterdam side won the Berbice zone under lights at Albion Sports Complex on August 9, edging Lusignan Bulls DTP I by four runs — 116-5 against 112-5 — with Zameer Nazeer defending 24 off the final over after conceding two early sixes. Seon Hetmyer, the elder brother of Shimron Hetmyer, carried the bat for a Player-of-the-Match 52 not out off 28 balls, and Zeynul Ramsammy backed him with 22 off 12 and 2 for 8.

Mahdia’s Movements Family (East Bank/West Demerara). They dethroned the 2025 zone champions Eccles All-Stars — themselves the inaugural 2023 season champions — by eight runs in the August 16 zone final at Meten-Meer-Zorg, posting 128 for 5 against Eccles’ 120 for 8. Andy Lall’s 31 set the tone; Eccles’ Akeim Vieira made 55 in reply. Movements had beaten Hyde Park by eight wickets the day before to reach the final.

Lusignan Bulls DTP II (Essequibo). The only finalist with a win already on the national-finals ground: they clinched the Essequibo zone final 88 for 1 in just 5.3 overs against Team Royals’ 83 for 5, at the Anna Regina National Stadium itself. Malcolm Hubbard struck an unbeaten 43 off 15 balls. There is a family subplot too — their sister side, Lusignan Bulls DTP I, fell four runs short in the Berbice final, so one club carried two teams to two zone finals and lifted one title.

SVC/AJM CC (Georgetown/East Coast). The freshest story in the field, crowned at Enmore on October 4. They beat Avinash All-Stars in the zone final — a side featuring West Indies international Kyle Mayers — after earlier knocking out Pure Entertainment in the semis, Diamond Gunners in the quarters, and chasing down 101 in just 4.2 overs against TG Titans in the round of 16. Pure Entertainment were the side that ended the reign of the back-to-back defending national champions Titans All Stars in the quarters, so SVC/AJM arrive battle-tested.
